Many applications use high density polyethyle (HDPE) rather than low density polyethylene

This plastic also has a waxy feel to it

When sanded at high speed or when it is cut with a jig saw, it is not as "hairy" as low density polyethylene

Almost impossible to paint.

"My problems with this product is not the fault of the rods themselves, I am an inexperienced plastic welder and needed to attach a fitting to a polyethylene water tank. My plastic welder is a bottom shelf model, and as such had difficulty melting these rods to a workable temp. I would like to use this opportunity to praise AZ TOOLS, their service was simply incredible and I had the rods the next day after ordering them, well before the rest of the tools for the job arrived. GOOD JOB!!"

"I bought about 40'of 1/4" AmSteel Blue HDPE winch cable for my ATV. When I removed the steel cable from my Ramsey winch, I couldn't figure a way to secure the AmSteel to the winch drum cause it Ramsey (and I also think Warn) uses a 'puck' method loop the tail end of the steel cable into a notch in the drum to hold it. I ended-up threading the Amsteel through the drum, then welding the end with a glob HDPE rod. That 'honker' acted like a puck when I pulled it into the drum's notch and kept the cable from unspooling. Worked good. I tested it by pulling the ATV out of a six foot deep embankment with less than 2 wraps left on the drum. Be sure to use HDPE on HDPE winch rope, cause the regular Poly rods just won't hold near as well."
