Come Alongs may look alike, but there is a lot of quality differences between one brand and the next. As a general rule, we prefer the American made come alongs because their actions are smoother and they take the strain better.
A good quality come along should last a lifetime. We carry the brands below that we're 100% confident about. We've been through them all, and these come alongs are the ones that don't warp, won't slip, have smooth actions, and just plain hold-up to what they were designed to do.

Not all Come Alongs are built to last. You'll get a pull or two out of the bottom dollar brands (which we don't carry!), and then it's time to toss'm. We believe Come Alongs are like life preservers, you may not use it for a while, but when you need it it better work! Maadam, Allied, American Presto, Ingersoll Rand, Power Pull, are Come Along brands you can count on. The ratching actions are reliable, the levers can take a heavy pull without twisting, and the hardware stands up to repeated use. These are the reasons we only carry these brands. If you plan to use your Come Along once or twice, go to Walmart and save 40%. If you want to buy a Come Along that outlasts your pickup truck, won't leave you cussing 40 miles from town, and will do the job it's intended to do (again and again!) then you can count on any of the Come Alongs listed below.
Note... there's a reason Come Alongs aren't called 'hoists'. Never use a Come Along for overhead lifting, it's an invitation to injury.
