CTEK makes a top-quality intelligent charger specifically designed to extend a battery's life. The CTEK Power 800 charger produces a maximum of 1.3 amps. So, it'll take about 10 hours to charge an ATV/Motorcycle battery, and a day or two for a dead automotive or deep cycle battery.

Now, you can get an Autozone 'manual' charger for $30. So, what you're paying for with the CTEK is it's ability to sense the charge rate and reduce the current to avoid gassing (which evaporates the acid, sulfates the plates, and reduces the battery's capacity). The other feature not available in conventional battery chargers is CTEK's pulse mode, which begins when the battery is fully charged. Pulse circuitry not only keeps the battery fully charged, it also de-sulfates the plates (though the model 800 isn't strong enough to rejuvenate an old battery - instead, take a look at the CTEK 3300).

Temperature Protection:
